Former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama hinted at the identity of his running mate for the 2024 elections during his recent #BuildingGhana tour in the Bono East Region. Although he emphasized that the official announcement would be made in 2024, Mahama provided some clues about the potential candidate.
He urged party members to exercise patience until the unveiling next year.
Mahama revealed that his choice for running mate is someone who previously served in his government as a minister and demonstrated effective discharge of duties. He emphasized the individual’s humility and genuine concern for the well-being of the people. These traits, according to Mahama, make the person a suitable candidate for the position.
During his address to supporters in the Bono East Region, Mahama highlighted the party’s adherence to specific rules in the selection process for a running mate. He assured that these established procedures would be followed diligently to ensure a fair and transparent decision-making process.
Speaking in the Twi language, Mahama provided more details about the characteristics of the potential running mate. He described the individual as humble, knowledgeable, dedicated to serving everyone, and having previously worked in his government as a minister. In the 2020 elections, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman was Mahama’s running mate.
