I will construct ethanol plants in Volta and Central regions of Ghana – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has revealed plans to initiate the construction of his first ethanol plant with a daily capacity of 200,000 litres in the Volta Region.
This ambitious project is scheduled to commence in 2024. Notably, a parallel venture with an equivalent daily capacity is set to unfold simultaneously in the Central Region, emphasizing a dual commitment to regional development.
Ethanol, a domestically produced alternative fuel primarily derived from corn, serves as a pivotal industrial chemical with diverse applications.
While its production method varies based on the feedstock, ranging from starch or sugar-based sources to cellulosic feedstocks like crop residues and wood, its significance extends beyond fuel. Ethanol finds utility as a solvent, contributing to the synthesis of various organic chemicals.
Additionally, it plays a role in the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages and serves as a substitute for petrol, known as power alcohol.
The decision to strategically locate these ethanol plants in the Volta and Central regions is grounded in political gratitude.
Mr Agyapong attributes this choice to the substantial support he received from these regions during the recent New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
In an interesting turn, he garnered more votes in the Volta and Central regions than the eventual winner and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. This geographic allocation of projects thus becomes a symbolic expression of appreciation for the electoral backing received.
