National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has called on the government to withdraw the 15% VAT on electricity and Emission Levy immediately.According to Nana B, the implementation of VAT on electricity and the Emission Levy would worsen the plight of Ghanaians since the cost of electricity would go up by more than 15 percent.Nana B, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, stated emphatically that, “we are on the ground, so please let’s listen to the people on the grounds…

This VAT on electricity and Emission Levy  must be withdrawn as soon as possible.”He also averred; “I’m stating the position of the party that they must withdraw both the electricity tax and the Emission Levy.

I have done consulting, and I’m saying that these levies must be withdrawn immediately.””This VAT increment has been in the law since former President Mahama’s time, and he never implemented it,” he expounded, adding, “if Mahama was not able to implement it, why us?

With all humility, it must be withdrawn.

As a party, I have listened to party folks and other stakeholders and I’m saying these levies must be withdrawn as soon as possible, stop making our work difficult.”
