These taxes are causing a lot of trouble for the people of Ghana.- Minority leader

The Minority in Parliament is saying that the NPP government has introduced a whopping 50 new taxes since 2017. According to Cassiel Ato Forson, these taxes are causing a lot of trouble for the people of Ghana, especially those who are already struggling.

Ark Forson mentioned that the government had promised to get rid of “nuisance taxes” back in 2017, but it seems like that was just a hoax. Instead, we’re seeing a whole epidemic of taxes, taxes, and more taxes!

He explained that  not only have the ruling New Patriotic Party  burdened Ghanaians with over 50 taxes, but the 2024 budget is introducing even more taxes worth a whopping GH¢11 billion! The Minority in Parliament is not happy about it at all.

They’re saying that these new taxes will only make things worse for the people. Businesses are already struggling because of the high cost of doing business in Ghana, and these new taxes will just add to their burden. Plus, there are tax exemptions pending before the Finance Committee that amount to GH¢5.5 billion.

The Minority in Parliament cannot support the 2024 budget because of these new taxes. According to Ato Forson ,they believe that any additional tax will just worsen the extreme poverty in our country. It’s definitely a complex issue, and one that needs serious consideration.
