Teshie in Crisis: NDC and Hon. Ayiku Reportedly Fuels Chieftaincy Dispute
2 min read
Teshie is reportedly facing severe crisis, with a chieftaincy dispute tearing the community apart. Despite the intervention of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Titus Glover, the community remains deeply divided, and the situation has grown more volatile. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Hon. Ayiku, MP for the Ledzokuku Constituency have orchestrated the conflict for political gain.
Hon. Ayiku, along with a man called Chief of Obediben “Nii Martey Dzata Obrempong I” popularly known as “Original Don” and his administrator who doubles as the NDC youth organizer known as “Kuzor,” are responsible for the violence that has erupted in Teshie. Their actions are reportedly seen as a deliberate attempt to discredit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and tarnish the reputation of Dr. Okoe Boye, the former Member of Parliament and Parliamentary candidate of NPP in this year’s election.
The NDC youth organizer, who also serves as the administrator for Original Don, has reportedly been meddling in chieftaincy matters and using land guards to intimidate and terrorize local residentsts. These tactics have not only deepened the rift within the community but have also created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
As the Homowo Festival nears, the people of Teshie find themselves in a precarious situation, with the threat of further violence overshadowing what should be a time of celebration and unity.
Community leaders are urging the authorities to act swiftly to restore peace and hold those responsible accountable. The situation in Teshie is the destructive impact of political interference in traditional matters and the urgent need for a resolution before the community is further torn apart.
Residents call on the MP, Hon. Ayiku and his party within the constituency together with the said Chief of Obediben to not tamper with the peace of the community.
