Born To Win Foundation Supports Saltpond Municipal Hospital With Medical Equipment

The Born to Win Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has supported the Saltpond Municipal Hospital with medical equipment, including hospital beds. The equipment was presented to the management of the facility to help save lives.

Koby Maxwell, the leader of the foundation, said the items form part of giving back to the society where he grew up.

“There was a point in time when I came to Ghana from the United States and visited Saltpond. I ate some candies and felt sick and was later rushed to the Saltpond Municipal Hospital for treatment. They treated me very well, but I realised that they were trying their best with the limited resources at their disposal.

“This really touched me to give back, especially after communicating with one of the nurses who told me of their struggles,” Koby Maxwell leader of the foundation based in the United States told Citi News.

“With my foundation Born to Win, we are going to use this to challenge other Ghanaians in the diaspora particularly in the US to also give back.

Deputy Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer for the facility Elizabeth Ankomah, who was elated to receive the items on behalf of the facility indicated that the items received will go a long way to help save lives at the facility, adding that they still need more medical equipment to help save lives.

“We are grateful for the foundation for the gesture but like Oliver Twist, we will still ask for more since on a daily basis we save lives. We are in dire need of wheelchairs, radiant warmers and even hospital beds among others.

“Our accident centre is under-resourced, and it is a shame to see that when patients are brought in we don’t have all the resources to cater for them,” the Deputy Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer said.

The Medical Superintendent of the Saltpond Municipal Hospital Dr. Micheal Gyasi Danso on his part believes the goodwill of the staff of the facility towards Maxwell Okwensy when he visited the facility is what has prompted him to give back to the society thus urging staff of the facility to continue with good client care to woo such kind-hearted people to support the Municipal hospital.

“This gentleman came here to receive medical care and the way and manner our staff treated him prompted him to come back to support the hospital and we are grateful for the gesture” Dr. Michael Gyasi Danso said.
