Ademola Lookman wins Men’s Player of the Year

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been crowned the Men’s African Player of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards.

The prestigious ceremony took place in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrating the finest talents in African football and their exceptional contributions over the past year.

Lookman, who plays for Atalanta in Italy, edged out strong contenders, including South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, to claim the coveted title.

His outstanding displays during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire were crucial in securing this honour.

Ademola Lookman was instrumental in Nigeria’s journey to the final, demonstrating skill, resilience, and a knack for delivering in critical moments.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, who shone for West Ham United and the Black Stars in the past year, earned a spot in the CAF FIFPro Best XI, proudly waving Ghana’s flag at the ceremony.

The 2024 CAF Awards once again showcased the exceptional talent and passion that defines African football.
